The Bluebonnet Literacy-Science Lab for Grades 3-5
This workshop is designed to dismantle the wall between the "Reading Block" and the "Science Lab." By using the Bluebonnet Learning K–5 English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) as the foundation, teachers will ensure that students aren't just reading for fluency, but are building the high-level background knowledge required for complex scientific inquiry. The goal is to synchronize 3rd–5th grade RLA reading passages with Science hands-on investigations to boost both literacy scores, scientific mastery, and higher order thinking. This allows the RLA teacher to build the "schema" (background knowledge) so the Science teacher can focus on the "application" (the lab).
Special instructions
Bring a charged device, your Bluebonnet Curriculum, and any ideas you would like to share. This will be a collaboration day with hands-on activities to make Bluebonnet come alive! This will be hosted at the SPARK Science Center located at 1620 S. 3rd St.
