Biology for Middle School: Vertical Alignment of Life Science Grades 6th-8th
This workshop establishes a vertical progression from cellular foundations to ecosystem complexity. It starts with The Microscopic Blueprint, linking 6th-grade Cell Theory to 8th-grade genetics and organelle mastery. The focus then shifts to Organism Function, where 7th graders model human body systems and reproductive strategies. Students then explore Interdependence, tracking energy flow from resource competition to biodiversity’s role in ecosystem stability.
Finally, the sequence culminates in Adaptation and Change, teaching how natural selection and ecological succession drive the evolution and recovery of life over time.
Our main focus will be on the Middle School Science Assessment Eligible TEKS: Organisms and the Environment Strand 6.12A, 6.13A, 7.12A, 7.13ACD, 8.12BC, 8.13ABC
