Evaluating the quality of FBAs and BIPS using the TATE rubric
Creating an effective plan based on evidence-based procedures is an important part of
supporting students with challenging behaviors that interfere with their education. Federal law does not
provide much specific guidance about how best to do so, beyond specifying that a Functional Behavior
Assessment (FBA) must be done, and an individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) developed using
the results. This FBA-BIP process can be complex and intimidating in the absence of more specific
information or experience in doing so.
This two-day workshop will provide participants with a deep exploration of the important elements of
FBA-BIP implementation. In addition to learning about available tools and resources, those in
attendance will also receive extensive hands-on experience applying the lessons learned on real case
studies and examples from their home districts. **please bring FBA & BIP docs with you!**
**See attachment for participant information and "what to bring" suggestions.
