Quest: Unpacking Neurodiversity and Autism in Public Education
Join Michael Tucker (Region 11), Amber Davies (Region 14), and Jessica Flores (Region 15) as we explore mental health and autism in the school setting. Join Region 19's Claudia Perez, M.ED., as she talks to us about Responsive Teaching: Navigating Culture and Autism Together
This session explores the intersection of culture and autism, focusing on how educators can navigate both cultural and neurodivergent differences in the classroom. We will dive into how environmental and interpersonal influences shape how students with autism are perceived, supported, and engaged in learning. Through discussion, case studies, and strategies, educators will learn to create more accessible and proactive teaching environments that support students and their unique learning needs. Participants will leave with practical tools for implementing evidence-based instructional practices for students with autism.
