Day 1 of 30-Hour Foundational GT Training: Nature & Needs of Gifted Learners (Online)
In this online course, participants will learn about the cognitive, social, and emotional characteristics of gifted students. Participants will contribute to the discussion boards, share their own experiences, and research information. The objectives will be met through Internet investigations, investigation of district information and practices, threaded collaborative discussions, quizzes, and assignments. This workshop is aligned to the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) teaching standards for Gifted Education and the combined standards set forth by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). This workshop meets the Texas State Plan requirements for 30-Hour Initial Training.
Special instructions
This workshop is a SELF-PACED, ONLINE version, but ALL activities MUST be completed within the open window of the course. Participants must have access and respond to emails. Anyone registering after September 11th must email Amanda Carpenter at acarpenter@esc14.net to get access to the Canvas-based course. This workshop does NOT count as a 6-hour GT update.
