In the wake of an adverse experience, the immediate support provided can significantly impact the long-term well-being of educators, parents, and students. This session will equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills to deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA), a brief and effective intervention designed to promote safety, stabilization, and connection in the aftermath of potentially traumatic events. Any trained staff member, regardless of qualifications or job title, can can use skills learned in PFA to contribute to healthy resolution of a crisis or emergency.

Training Requirements Satisfied: PFA is currently mandated training for all members of a district’s safety & security committee per TEC 37.108(f)(6)(C)(i). PFA also meets statutory staff training requirements for grief and trauma informed practices per 38.036(c)(1)(a) & (c)(2) and the TEA Best Practice List.
