21st Annual Autism Extravaganza
Morning- Aimee Day and her son Ty Day will be speaking on Ty's self-advocacy in their session titled: "Stop Talking About Me & Listen to Me." Since 2017, Ty & Aimee Day have used person-centered planning & trauma-informed support to help him become a young adult who is not afraid to speak up for himself. Ty will share his story of feeling powerless & misunderstood, even by his own mother! Mom learned how to truly listen & discover what he was trying to tell her. Together, they taught others the importance of having the POWER to make informed choices. Afternoon-Dr. Layne Pethick, presents: You’ve Got to Move It, Move It: Autism, Movement, Exercise & Play! This session will look at how brain research in autism shows incredible benefits through movement, exercise & play…yes PLAY!! The autistic brain is one of the most fascinating and incredible brains. We must begin to look at better ways to unlock potential & exceptionalities!
