Addressing Swallowing & Feeding in the Schools: A Collaborative Approach
Emily Homer, M.A., CCC-SLP will discuss how teams can ensure students with feeding and/or swallowing disorders are provided adequate nutrition and hydration in the school setting. Topics discussed will include IDEA requirements, legal and ethical issues, responsibilities of a safe-swallowing and feeding team, how to work with families, documentation, and interventions.
Special instructions
This workshop is appropriate for all staff members working with students who may have difficulty accessing nutrition and hydration in the school setting including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nutrition staff, nurses, paraprofessionals, and teachers.
