New Science TEKS - Explore the Scientific and Engineering Practices & Recurring Themes and Concepts
It’s time to shift our thinking as we embrace the new science standards (TEKS). Collaborate across grade levels and use evidence-based practices with concrete examples to maintain rigor in teaching and learning. Shift control to students as the practitioners of science. We will also learn how to use the SEPs & RTCs to structure prompts that engage students in reasoning how and why phenomena occur. RTCs unify the study of science and engineering across all domains of science. We will also explore the CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) model that will change how students understand scientific concepts and write explanations for phenomena.
