Setting up the STAAR 2.0 Classroom: Growth for Grammar, Comprehension, and Response
Welcome Dr. Shona Rose, National Writing Project Trainer, back to Region 14 for a great day of how to weave grammar and composition into your RLA block. Topics include establishing paper & digital portfolios, Writer’s Notebooks, constructing participatory routines and processes, exploration of the comprehension (consume), analysis (critique), and response (compose/create) phases in text based responses to multiple genres via informational and argumentative modes, embedding grammar within the editing phase to explicitly teach TEKS subtypes present in MC items and effective compositions and mentor texts, reducing risk and cognitive demand and increasing participation, contribution, and feedback. Participants will need a digital device, a composition notebook, and their favorite writing pencils, pens, markers, etc. Join Dr. Rose again July 10-11 for STAAR 2.0: Crafting Coherence, Counter-Argument & Correspondence, 6-12
