Engaging Students with Primary Sources in RLA & Social Studies, 4-12
Primary sources are just that, primary. Since these documents create curiosity and critical thinking, they are a rich source for student engagement and student understanding through STAAR Constructed Responses. Consider the possibilities of how to strengthen and deepen your teaching with primary sources. Participants will learn the steps to historical thinking and analysis: sourcing, contextualization, corroboration and close reading as well as multiple methods for using primary sources in the classroom.
Special instructions
Participants will need a digital device so they can leverage all of the tools provided. Participants will also need to bring writing tools they feel comfortable using if they do not want to use a shared toolbox.

TEXQuest Gale and Britannica will present a two hour session on the 17th as a part of this training. Participants need to register for Session #112653, Primary Sources with Britannica and Gale, K-12 (free) also.
