Building Effective Interactive Notebooks for RLA & Social Studies, 6-12
Do you want a way to evaluate student understanding that is rigorous, meaningful, and engaging to students? If so, interactive student notebooks are for you! This session will focus on the use of interactive student notebooks in the social studies and RLA classrooms including thought-provoking engagement activities, critical thinking skill development, effective formative and performance assessments such as STAAR Constructed Response as well as tips for management and grading. Experts from Gale will guide participants in exploring valuable resources from the TEXQuest digital databases to include such as sources, images, diagrams, excerpts, and expository text. Notebooks provide natural opportunities for differentiation based on student needs while maximizing student performance. All grade levels and all subject areas can improve instruction by using interactive notebooks to help deepen understanding and organize learning.
