SLP Webinar 1: Helping Adolescents and Young Adults Face the Challenge of Stuttering
Helping Adolescents and Young Adults Face the Challenge of Stuttering - Scott Yaruss, PhD/CCC-SLP
As children who stutter become teenagers, the challenges they face become more complicated. They may face difficult questions about how stuttering will affect their ability to get a job, to get into college, to get into the service, or to meet that special someone. The concerns of parents also become more acute, as they worry more about their children's future. During this period of transition, the ability to cope effectively with stuttering becomes increasingly important. This presentation will focus on the issues that face older school-age children and adolescents who stutter, with a focus on helping to prepare them for a future in which stuttering does not play a negative role in their lives, so they achieve their best both in and out of school.
