Deepening Practice: CRIT from UT! Explain how a text means. Part I
How does UT get STEM students to analyze literature? With what the students call, the "scientific method for analyzing literature." Critical Reading Interpretive Tool, or CRIT is an open-source tool used by all students in UT during their freshman Humanities course, which is mandatory, by the way, for all students. Learn the method and see the application to STAAR. STAAR is all about author's craft or explaining how a text means. This method will help us connect students for success in college writing. It can also be adapted by science and social studies teachers. Part II, writing in science, applying CRIT to science, will be October 3rd.
