STAAR Ready: 3 Types of Inferences and Formative Writing Across Elementary, K-3, All Disciplines
New STAAR expectations will require students to respond to sources in smaller constructed responses, across all disciplines, and in extended constructed responses in RLA. Additionally, all new RLA tests will have cross-curricular topics aligned to grade level and possibly pre-grade level expectations. Let's begin to shift our thinking across early elementary RLA and explore how to show evidence of learning across disciplines. Participants will learn early writing development and create differentiated and grade level appropriate formative assessments in light of research and grade level end-of-year expectations. Participants will utilize the Implementing TEKS Resource System. Since all core disciplines will be addressed, Region 14 Content Consultants, Myra Rains and Donna Scherr will utilize tools from our Science and Math consultants, Amy Wright and Jana Higgins, who cannot be in attendance due to scheduling conflicts.
Special instructions
Participants will need access to digital devices so they can create and share formative assessment ideas with others. Participants will also need to be able to access TEKS Resource System and Implementing TEKS Resource System. See the link below. If you do not have access, contact your districts TEKS Resource contact or reach out to Donna Scherr.
